You can take the 30 hour driver education course as early as 14 years 9 months of age and in the 8th grade. You cannot start the driving portion until you are 15 years old. If you are over the age of 18 and meet Louisiana State requirements, you must take the 6 hour class instruction and 8 hours of driving.
The 38 hour course is broken down into 4 days from 9:00am to 5:00pm for a total of 30 hours for the classroom and 4 days of 2 hours each for the 8 hours of behind the wheel training.
As of September 4, 2018 all students must obtain a temporary instruction permit from the DMV before they can register for classes. For more information click the link below.

The price of drivers education varies based on service provided.
- THE 38 HOUR COURSE IS $485.00
- The 14 hour course is $385.00
- The Court mandated/Defensive driving course is $85.00
- 2 Hour Private Drive is 140.00
- 8 Hour Private Drive package is 400.00

* The Road Skills Test Fee is non-refundable. A no show for the behind the wheel test will result in a $60 no show fee.
Wear proper shoes for all scheduled drives. No flip-flops, Crocs or beach style shoes allowed. Stable shoes only. Failure to wear proper shoes will result in a no show fee of $60
A $100.00 deposit has to be paid in order to reserve the student's spot for the 38 Hour Course. Please note when you register, if you DO NOT put your required down payment, your registration will be deleted from our system within SEVEN (7) days of your initial registration. You must return to your account with your payment to secure your seat. We can only accommodate those students in our driving school who have secured their seat properly with the required down payment. Once our class is filled with secured students, we may not be able to accommodate your attendance in that particular class and you will need to choose another start date.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS. We accept cash, credit card, and money order only.
Other Fees:
Copies of Certificates (Motor Vehicle) : $25.00
Re-administration of written test fee: $30.00
PLEASE NOTE:
All monies will be forfeited if class has not been attended and completed within a calendar year.
A $60 fee will be assessed if a student is not prepared for each 2 hour increment of the Behind The Wheel appointment for any of the following reasons:
- Wearing improper shoes for scheduled drive. No flip-flops, Crocs, beach style shoes allowed. Stable shoes only. Failure to wear proper shoes will result in a no show fee of $60
- Failure to give 48-hour notice of drive cancellations.
- Student not being picked up by parents within 15 minutes of the end of lesson. (PLUS $1.00 per minute charge after 15 minutes)
- Student not being picked up at Academics of Driving after drive finished.
Any reference herein to OMV shall be construed as referring to the Office of Motor Vehicles, Training and Certification Unit, P.O. Box 64886, Baton Rouge, LA 70896.
48 Hours notice must be given if a student is unable to attend a scheduled course. If a 48 hour notice is given and the student does not wish to attend Academics Of Driving School a fee of $35.00 will be charged and the remainder refunded. A No Call No Show will result in Forefiture of the your deposit.

Absolutely there is!
Cheating, disrespectfulness, fighting, excessive tardiness, stealing, vandalism and any other serious problems WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND COULD LEAD TO EXPULSION.
All payment will be forfeit in the case of a violation of the conduct policy.
Stable shoes are required for all drives.
You will need a TEMPORARY INSTRUCTIONAL PERMIT along with a NOTEBOOK, PEN AND IDENTIFICATION IN THE FORM OF A BIRTH CERTIFICATE OR STATE ID CARD.

We give the DMV written test in the 38 and 14 hour course, please go onto the DMV website to download and study their driver's guide.

The 38 Hour course will have a study guide for students signing up online. It will come in an email in which you can download to help with quizzes in the course.
There will be tests in the classroom, as well as during the behind the wheel portion.
An 80% grade is needed to the pass the classroom portion, and a 70% to pass the behind the wheel.

The eight hour behind the wheel course shall be completed within 120 days of completion of the 30 hour classroom course.
The eight hour behind the wheel course shall be completed within 90 days of completion of the 6 hour classroom course.
Students may not drive during any time that would result in an unexcused absence from school as defined by the Louisiana Department of Education.
You are eligible for your learner's permit when you meet all the following requirements:
- 15 years of age
- Completion of 30 hours classroom instruction
- Pass the visual and knowledge, signs, and signals exams
